General Fundraising Letter
On January 23, 2011, I will be (RUNNING OR VOLUNTEERING) in the Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Marathon and Half Marathon to raise funds for the Children’s Cardiology Foundation (CCF), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide funding for the treatment, education, and research that is vital to saving and improving the lives of children with congenital heart defects (CHD).
Occurring in nearly 1 out of every 100 live births, congenital heart defects are the most common form of birth defect. If left untreated, congenital heart defects often lead to early death in infants and children. Although this defect can’t be prevented, advancements in pediatric medicine have provided more treatment options than ever before, and most defects can be treated successfully if diagnosed early and appropriately. This is why early diagnosis and treatment are critical.
I chose to (RUN OR VOLUNTEER) as a member of the Children’s Cardiology Foundation Team because (CUSTOMIZE TO YOUR SITUATION).
